The provision of play space within the development has been selected to be appropriate to its size and scale; this is due to the ample provision of play provision surrounding it. Within the proposed development, natural play elements are to be provided within the extension to Thaobh Chnoic Park to the south, and a mix of both nature play elements and traditional play pieces are to be provided to the open spaces to the north. The nature play areas within the extension to Thaobh Chnoic park will feature willow play structures set on the edge of new woodland, as well as kinaesthetic play elements such as balancing beams and stepping stones.
The kinaesthetic play elements will be orientated and place so that an informal play circuit is created between play structures and through proposed meadow areas. Seating areas with bench seating will be positioned so that adequate overlooking The preserved hedgerows, alongside the newly planted hedges and trees, form a connection with the green infrastructure network which has been established within both the recently finished Graydon development and Taobh Chnoic Park. This alignment will foster further ecological linkages, bridging
the proposed development with the third phase of the Newcastle residential sites, located to the northeast, upon their completion.
